Hey! You've got The Frames' new album! I've had a tough time finding people who have even heard of the band.

They're not on this list, but I've got to thank you for spending as much time as you have pushing The Waterboys. I finally gave in and tried them this last week and I'm hooked.
Also, I learned through the magic of the internets, back in '88 The Waterboys gave a little-known Tuam band named The Saw Doctors their first big break. For that they are to be offered the highest praise.

"Falling Slowly" is featured in the new Irish movie "Once" which is completely awesome.
And who doesn't love the Housemartins? I'm just surprised "World's on Fire" and their acapella gospel numbers haven't shown up yet.

Regina Spektor's video reminds me vaguely of The White Teacher's Burden syndrome: Young white teacher comes to an inner-city school and overcomes The Beaurocrasy, the Hostility of of The Gangs and the Distrust of The Students (featuring a scene wherein one of the students breaks down in tears and cries on the teacher's shoulder).
It's a cool song, and a nice video, but what's this lily-white woman doing at a segregated school?
One of the recappers on TWoP (Miss Ali -- Survivor, Amazing Race and the first several seasons of The Apprentice) is always pushing The Frames. Nice but not my thing. Have some Thin Lizzy!

"Clearly, Elvira "has a hag-yolk" in the Pinto Van"? What's a "hag-yolk"? Also, Ford didn't make a Pinto Van, at least in the US.

Jeff,
my hat is off to your superior 'blind translation' skills.

Thank you. I had to study long and hard to get to this level of proficiency!

Regina Spektor's mother teaches those kids at that "segretated" school.

So? How does that make it less weird or more than somewhat icky?

Now that I'm back in DSL-Land from Dial-up-ville, I'll say that Spektor's song is pretty and moving, and ruined by a crappy and, yes, offensive, video.

I just don't have much to say right now, but I guess it doesn't bother me. Basically nothing seems worth thinking about. Nothing notable happening these days. Shrug. Not that it matters. My mind is like a void. I've basically been doing nothing , not that it matters. More or less nothing going on. I guess it doesn't bother me. Not much on my mind.
