Judas Priest introduced Joan Baez to the metal audience by remaking Baez' "Diamonds and Rust."

Although it's not really in the range, I'm starting with "Der Fuehrer's Face," by Spike Jones
Devil's Daughter -- Frenchie Burke
Devoted to You -- Everly Brothers
Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend -- Marilyn Monroe

The Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels
Devil With a Blue Dress On - Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels
Out of range, just to get something slightly less demonic:
Der Kommissar - After the Fire
Posted by: cjmr's husband | May 09, 2008 at 08:31 AM
Diamond/Detours
"but I blew up our love nest, by making one little request..."
"Diamond Ring", from Sheryl Crow's Detours album, 2008.

Der Kommissar - After the Fire
I've got both that version and the Falco version, because some days I just need to kick back and listen to Falco being unintelligible in multiple languages.
But yeah, all I've got in range is "Devil Went Down to Georgia". Which, of course, brings me to "Thirty-Nine Questions for Charlie Daniels", including my favorite: "2) [Isn't] that totally amazing fiddle feedback thing the Devil plays (which sounds like Hendrix gone bluegrass) a hundred times better than that high-school-band piece-of-crap tune Johnny plays?"

"Devil With Blue Suede Shoes" -- Chuck E. Weiss

"Diamond Ring", from Sheryl Crow's Detours album, 2008.
I haven't bought any of her albums since The Globe Sessions. I've heard a couple of her newer songs, but something seemed to be missing in the lyrics. I do know that searching was a dominant theme in her earlier work. Also, "Strong Enough" seems to be about someone who is emotionally unstable. Did anyone else get that impression?

"Detour Ahead" - Bill Evans
"Detroit Rock City" - Kiss
"Deuce" - Kiss
"A Deus dos Orixas" - Clara Nunes
"The Devil's Chasing Me" - Reverend Horton Heat
"Devil's Dance Floor" - Flogging Molly
"Devil's Right Hand" - Johnny Cash
"Devil Doll" - Roy Orbison
"Devil Doll" - X
"Devil in her Heart" - The Beatles
"Devil with the Green Eyes" - Matthew Sweet
"Dewey Square" - Charlie Parker
"Dia 36" - Os Mutantes
"Diamonds and Gold" - Tom Waits
My favorite here would be the X cut. X is probably the most underappreciated band from the late 70s. They were great, and are still very cool live.
I wish I had "Deus" by the Sugarcubes - a great song I'll have to put on my iPod tonight.
"Detroit Rock City" is on my iPod because it was a song my first band in high school covered. I have no good explanation for why "Deuce" is on my iPod.

A little out of range: Little Deuce Coupe
Posted by: cjmr's husband | May 09, 2008 at 10:06 AM

"Dharkan" -- Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
"Diagnosis" -- The Weakerthans
"Diamond Mountain" -- Luka Bloom
"Diamonds & Gold" -- Tom Waits
"Diamonds And Buttermilk" -- Poi Dog Pondering
Any other Chicago residents here (current or former) who used to love going to Poi Dog Pondering shows?

I have just discovered that posting in Swedish (or is that Norwegian?) causes LB Fridays to appear! This will save me so much time in the near future.
Posted by: rm | May 09, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Devil Woman -- Marty Robbins
Not to be confused with the Cliff Richard song by the same name.
I've got both that version and the Falco version, because some days I just need to kick back and listen to Falco being unintelligible in multiple languages.
I just read that "kommissar" translates to "police captain." All these years I thought the song was about a Communist Party official.

I wouldn't say any of the rest of us have missed that one...
"Detroit Waves," Matt Nathanson
"Deuces are Wild," Aerosmith
"Devil Boy," Seven Mary Three (anybody else remember Seven Mary Three?)
"Diamonds and Guns," The Transplants
"Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes," Paul Simon
Posted by: Geds | May 09, 2008 at 04:28 PM
Come on. Detachable Penis is a late 80s college radio classic. Maybe not as good as Jesus was way cool but it's close.
Posted by: vanya | May 09, 2008 at 05:56 PM
"Diamond Girl," Seals and Crofts
"Diamond Smiles," Boomtown Rats
"Diamonds Are Forever," Shirley Bassey
"Diamonds in the Mine," Leonard Cohen
"Diamonds on my Windshield," Tom Waits
Posted by: Propagatrix | May 09, 2008 at 09:05 PM
Not much here. "Devil Went Down to Georgia" and "Devil in a Blue Dress" (because I'm a Dukie.)
Just missed "Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)" which I have in no less than four versions. I must like that song.
