Twilight: No Cookies for Human Decency
It’s bad enough that all of Edward’s interactions with Bella to this point in the novel have been excessively hostile or aggressively shunning; now, he’s going to get angry at her for pointing out his behavior because there’s a little piece of the puzzle that she can’t and doesn’t know. Come feel the Buck Williams flash-backs as our hero angrily berates our heroine for being logical-but-wrong in her assessment of the situation. Remember, kids, True Love means being angry a lot.

Narnia: Moral Event Horizons
Intent isn’t magic and the results of one’s actions are significant, but how does intent weigh against results in an ideal divine justice system? For Edmund to be condemned to death, is it enough that his actions betray his siblings, or does he have to *want* to betray them? Come help us weigh the pros and cons of divine justice systems and determine which system is ideal for you.
Coleslaw writes: My husband and I hit the road again on a bus tour for a long weekend in Branson, MO, home of God, fruit cobbler and the American flag. Hearing my husband tell a fellow tour member his version of our trip to Thailand reminded me of
The Difference Between My Husband and Me. While we were in Branson, we got to see one of the last performances of
Noah, the Musical. Watching movies on the bus, I was
Blindsided when a forgotten line in a movie reminded me of a family tragedy.

The Slacktiverse readers: Both
Decolonization and Occupy Wall Street and
A Letter To The Occupy Together Movement are concerned with the way the First Nations experience is being ignored by Occupy Wall Street et al, and the second article wants said movement to address the variety of experiences among the 99%, both because it's the right thing to do and because it'll increase participation in the movement.
Trigger Warning: (In the synopsis as well as the article) profanity, descriptions of sexual assault, sexism, misogyny
Speaking of the multitude of experiences of the 99%,
Hot Chicks of Occupy Wall Street --some jackass thinks women, especially attractive women, are at Occupy Wall Street to inspire men to join Occupy Wall Street and to have pictures and video of them posted on Tumblr for other men to...enjoy. Linked from that article,
Occupy Wall Street Works With Cops to Keep Order in Zuccotti Park n which we learn that protesters are being encouraged not to talk to police. Which makes total sense unless you're among the protesters who have been sexually assaulted by at least one douchebag (against whom criminal charges are not being pressed). Oh, and the sexual assaults are less important than protesters' mysteriously disappearing phones.

Paul's First Convert. This week, I finally got around to answering a question from a visitor about end times events in the Left Behind and Underground Zealot series in
The Rapture Timeline Question.

Twilight: Depression and Dances
It seems increasingly likely that Bella is burdened with depression as she
struggles to find someone to talk to among her distant parents,
popularity-seeking friends, and her pushy suitors. Why is no one recognizing
these warning signs and getting Bella the help and support she needs to
overcome depression. And why is Mike -- the popular, attractive, sporty guy
-- so intent on being aggressive and rude when Bella refuses to ask him to
the dance?

Deconstruction: The Right to Not Feed Trolls

The House Passes ‘Protect Life Act,’
"[The bill] also makes it legal for hospitals, such as those who may find abortions morally objectionable, to deny abortions to pregnant women with life-threatening conditions. Current law requires hospitals to give a patient whatever care they need in life-threatening situations, but the Protect Life Act relieves hospitals of their medical obligations."

Doctors without Borders asks:
Why do we have to wait for a crisis?Right now, the humanitarian food aid system provides nutritionally inadequate foods to malnourished children under two years of age.
