Last Call
The comments on Board Business, June 7 2011 be closed Saturday 00:00 GMT.
TBAT would like to particularly thank all those who raised and discussed accessibility issues.
Response to Feedback
In response to the feedback from the questions we asked about whether the layout to comments should be changed TBAT will attempt to switch the board from non-numbered to numbered comments over this weekend since that option received substantial support from our community.
As of the moment there is less clear support for the option of having urls automatically reconfigured into the "click through" links. TBAT is researching whether that option makes a board more vulnerable to certain forms of spam.
TBAT is also researching a number of other board configuration changes that many have expressed an interest in. A number of these have been tried out on "dummy" boards with less than desirable results.

The Board Administration Team
(hapax, Kit Whitfield and mmy)
I just had to share some exciting news with the community.
A dear teenage friend, who has also become an unofficial godson to me, has been invited to the LGBT reception at the White House on June 29. We're not sure how his name came up, though we suspect that someone at the GLSEN national office, as he's heavily involved with the organization on both the local and national level. (His picture even appears in the literature promoting and explaining GLSEN's Safe Space program.
He's understandably excited, and those of us who know him are equally excited for and proud of him.

This article on rape and the need to stop blaming victims for it is excellent, and I'd like to see it in "In Case You Missed This".

To go along with kisekileia's links, I'll note that one of the blogs I follow posted a list of tips for preventing sexual assault that are directed towards would-be assailants rather than victims.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with trolls and triggering/upsetting comments, for people who not wearing the TBAT hat?
Posted by: renniejoy | Jun 10, 2011 at 04:14 PM
@renniejoy: Are you thinking of dealing with trolls/upsetting comments here or on another board? And are there particular types of comments/issues that you are finding particularly triggering/upsetting?

Mmy - I see that my question may be answered by the latest post - please disregard it in this thread.

On my way to Fred's place, I happened on one of the featured articles over on Patheos: http://www.patheos.com/Resources/Additional-Resources/Vote-for-Romney-Is-a-Vote-for-the-LDS-Church-Warren-Cole-Smith-05-24-2011.html
The author's thesis seems to be (Warning: hyperbolic characiture of an argument that is both homophobic and denigrating to the beliefs of mormons) "Don't vote for Romney, because even though mormons might seem like they have the right beliefs about gay marriage and abortion, they're notorious flip-floppers who believe God can reveal new wisdom. They might seem cool now, but they changed their minds on polygamy and the ordination of blacks, so how can we trust that a year from now, they won't announce that god's changed his mind and gays are cool with Him now?"
I do not think I like Fred's neighbors.

May I ask if TBAT has come to a consensus on how to handle the highly triggering article discussed in the Board Business, June 7 2011 post?
I apologize in advance if this has already been answered, but I read the discussion and did not see a firm resolution in the comments, nor in any subsequent posts. Comments were due to close on Saturday (I assume that TBAT meant Saturday 6/11) but they still appear to be open.
